About the XRF-9710 PEARL Compact Bulk EDXRF Spectrometer

The XRF-9710 PEARL is a compact modular X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for elemental analysis. It is a bulk EDXRF instrument with an SDD detector (resolution < 127 eV) and a 10 W or 4 W X-ray tube, covering the elements Na to Am, and Multiflo Instruments supplies it for cement, minerals and ores, geology, biology, forensics and mining. It is the compact, more economical of the two bulk EDXRF models.

The modular design makes it possible to replace the sampler with a protective casing, which allows non-standard samples to be measured. The compact design and ergonomic features of the spectrometer allow the sample to be placed both above and below the measuring system, and the small size and light weight (220 × 230 × 275 mm, 6 kg) enable easy movement to the measuring point.

The X-ray optics is designed so that the influence of the distance from the object under investigation to the detector is significantly reduced, and the unevenness of the sample is leveled without distorting the measurement results. The design features and a safety interlock enhance security during sample changing and measurement.

Light elements are analyzed under helium, and primary X-ray filtration and collimation (0.5 to 10 mm) are set manually. Additional options are a helium unit, an integrated video camera for a close-up view of the sample, integrated batteries, power from the car on-board power supply, a sample rotation module and an autosampler for 6 samples. The larger XRF-9700 STARFISH is the universal, higher-specification of the two bulk EDXRF models; they are compared below.
