About the Karg Pourability Tester PM
The pourability tester type PM from Karg, Germany, is used as a check and for the control of the pourability of plastics in powder and granulate form, by determining the flow-through time of a funnel. The flow time is the time in which a certain mass or a certain volume of the sample flows through a funnel of exactly defined dimensions, indicated in seconds.
EN ISO 6186:1998 defines two procedures, A and B. Information on the processability can be derived from procedure A, and procedure B serves particularly for process control during production.
The equipment consists of a mounting plate with a stable stand for the funnel holding. A thread at the discharge of the funnel takes discharge nozzles of different diameters, and nozzles of 10, 15 and 25 mm are included. The funnel has an upper inner diameter of approx. 110 mm and a funnel angle of 20°.
The measuring device is robust and stable, with a leveling device and adjustable feet, an adjustable filling funnel and a polished funnel. It measures 180 × 312 × 250 mm (width, height, depth) and weighs approx. 8 kg.
